Catholic Family Life Conference 2008 (a working title)

A while back I posted this, which got a nice response. Later, I posted this, which got some great feedback both publicly and privately. Readers made all kinds of great suggestions and requests including taking the show on the road, so to speak. Then I talked to my friend Bridget and a wonderful idea started to take shape. But life gets busy when you are a mom of many and you are tending a lot of pots on the fire.

But there is an incessant knocking on the same door…

“Niiiiiiiiissa! Do it already.”

Alright, I’m doing it. With God’s help, I’m doing it. Good gracious…

Sometimes I’m a little dense about these calls.

I’m trying to pick a venue in the middle. But anywhere big and beautiful would be fine. Keeping in mind that this is a family retreat and conference. With families. Big families. With lots of kids. Taking up a LOT of room. And we’re Catholic (read: a chapel would be good here). It doesn’t have to be a “Catholic” venue of course, but it would be nice.

Some of the venue suggestions so far:

Marytown in Libertyville, IL
Benedictine University in Lisle, IL (makes me think of scratchy stockings)
Christian Family Living Center in North Carolina. This FABU venue was suggested by both dear Loretta from my local homeschooling group and by Michelle of Magnum Opus Hmmm that’s two votes for this one…
LaSalette Shrine in Attleboro, MA where my daughter Cate will be attending Steuby East this year.
Lake Ashmere in the Berkshires. A beautiful big venue with lots and lots of activities and opportunities for side trips, and room for 500 people to lodge overnight. There is a Catholic Church nearby.
St. Bernard’s Abbey School in Alabama

Please feel free to suggest others. PLEASE. You know that I prefer Benedictine-type places, so dazzle me!

If you are interested in hosting a module (for men, women, parents, children, teens or whole families), please let me know - read the previous posts first to see some suggestions. If you are a Catholic speaker and think you have something you would like to contribute, please read the previous posts linked above and then email me. If you are a Catholic author and would like to participate, hold a book signing, sell some copies at the conference, please email me. If you have a product or service that you think would be of interest to our attendees - you guessed it - email me. And in the certain event that I’ve forgotten some important information, please email me any questions.

And if you would like to come to the conference, by all means, EMAIL ME! :D
